My name is Mr Mitch Peh. I am a former MOE JC lecturer who previously worked at St Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC). I have 13 years of teaching experience, specialising in coaching A Level students in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics. How can Mr Peh’s A level home tuition help my child?
Based on my previous interactions and experience, students face various kinds of struggles causing them not to be able to do well for their A Level tests and exams. This can range from the lack of motivation, difficulties in following the pace of the school’s lectures, not being able to understand certain concepts, insufficient practice to hone their application skills etc.
Hence, the goal of the A level home tuition that I provide is to help your child overcome these issues in the following ways:
1. Personalised coaching to guide and answer all the queries that your child has
2. Summarise each topic so that your child knows clearly the key concepts to focus on. I provide summary notes so that your child can refer to them easily as well.
3. Identify the various question types for your child and help your child hone his or her problem solving skills for each question type.
4. Provide ample practice questions for your child through questions carefully selected and organised from past year school prelim and A Level papers.
5. Provide tailored pace and style of teaching that suits your child’s needs.
6. I also offer flexibility in terms of the subject and topic that your child can do for each lesson, addressing the major weaknesses and gaps that your child is currently facing.
Personal Recounts from Parents
Many parents that I have previously worked with have given me feedback that they find group tuition not suitable for their child as the pace is either too slow or too fast. Also, for the same subject, the sequence of topic being taught is very different for every JC. Take A Level Math for example, some JCs will start off with the topic of Graphing Techniques, while others will start with the topic of Vectors instead. Hence, the topics covered by tuition centres may not be in line with the topic that your child is currently learning in school. This will certainly not be helpful if your child is already struggling with the current topic that he or she is learning in school.
However, the child often only provides feedback to their parents when it is rather late, e.g. close to the JC1 promotional exams or the actual A Level exams, that they do not find group tuition very useful for their own needs. This causes undue stress, worry and anxiety for both student and parent, and the parent has to separately find a reliable and experienced A Level home tuition tutor in a short period of time.
